- Welcome Reception in the Exhibit Hall on November 19 at 6pm hosted by SUFC and UCFS. Let us know you’ll join – RSVP here.
- Alana Tucker will headline the SUFC breakfast on November 21 from 7:30- 8:30am in Salon 3 for a discussion on the Tree Alliance, a coalition advocating for tree canopy with a unified voice. Grab your buffet breakfast and join the conversation.
- Joel Pannell, the Vice President of Policy for American Forests, will give attendees a glimpse at the to be determined Presidential Administration’s plans for Urban & Community Forestry on Thursday, November 21 at 2:45pm in the Grand Ballroom.
SUFC Policy Working Group Drafting Presidential Transition Memo
The SUFC Policy Working Group is drafting a memo on the value of Urban & Community Forestry for the incoming Administration. The Coalition seeks your success stories in the letter — submit them here.
USGCRP Announces National Nature Assessment Public Engagement Events
The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) seeks input from the public on the development of the National Nature Assessment (NNA1) —the U.S. assessment of how nature is changing and how it matters to the economy, public health, climate, national security, and more. The Zero-Order Draft of the report is available for public comment through November 4, 2024.
A series of virtual public engagement events to gather input on the draft during the public comment period are underway. These events will include a combination of information-sharing, Q&A, and breakout sessions for discussion.
Vibrant Cities Lab Announces YouTube Channel
The Vibrant Cities Lab is now on YouTube! The YouTube channel hosts a catalog of video clips produced through the USDA Forest Service’s Urban Forest Connections webinar series. The most recent webinar — Decision Tools for Local Governments: Responding to Ecosystems in Distress —explores current research in the region and highlights a model long-term partnership with California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo) Urban Forest Ecosystems Institute.
20th Annual SUFC Meeting
Save the date! The 20th SUFC Annual Meeting will be held February 26, 2025 in Arlington, VA. An opportunity to visit with legislators on Capitol Hill will be held on February 27, 2025. Make your plans to join us — registration coming soon!
